Weekend News Surf

Weekend news surfing turned up some gems...
Check 'em out...

I spent a lot of time investigating Christian Churches in my time travelling with the Air Force. There seemed to be this emergence of the coorporate styled christian congregation and this story notices the same thing...

But hey, it's gotta be better than anybody that sanctions this!
A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.
Baaaaaaaaa baaaaaaaaa

Coorporate church structure doesn't seem all that bad now eh?

Just ask Diane!

Iran Declares War on Cartoons

No, not these cartoons...
A fatwah has been declared on Tom and Jerry!

Prof. Hasan Bolkhari, a cultural advisor to the Iranian Education Ministry (quite the contrived job title eh?) According to the professor, "Tom and Jerry" was created to irradicate the association between mice and Jews created in the minds of Europeans by Hitler.

Wow, this is deep...
See this bonehead keep the rapt attention of his minions in this video here.

Busted Terror Cell in Toledo

...it took every fiber of my being not to title this post 'Holy Toledo!'
Toledo-Area Men Arrested for Terrorist Activity

A federal grand jury has indicted three Toledo-area men for terrorist activities. Prosecutors say the three conspired to wage a "holy war" against the United States and coalition forces in the Middle East. The indictment was unsealed Monday.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says it was work by the F.B.I. and the Toledo Joint Terrorism Task Force that led to the indictments. If the three are convicted on the most serious charges, the suspects could be sentenced to life in prison.

According to the indictment, the suspects are Mohammad Zaki Amawi, Marwan Othman El-Hindi, and Wassim Mazloum. The indictment says all three were living in the Toledo area. Amawi is a citizen of the US and also a citizen of Jordan. El-Hindi is a naturalized American citizen who was born in Jordan. He was arrested over the weekend at his home on Suder Avenue in Toledo. Mazloum is a legal permanent resident of the US, who came here from Lebanon.

Mazloum also operated a car business in Toledo with his brother. The indictment accuses him of offering to use his dealership as a cover for traveling to and from Iraq so that he could learn how to build small explosives using household materials.

The indictment also names an unindicted co-conspirator called "The Trainer," who has U.S. military background in security, and bodyguard training.

Fox5News NY Terror Camp Story

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Tuesday 8:25am
The Catskill Chronicle apparently did bite the dust for unknown reasons. But he's back up and kickin here.

CP gives his take on the FOX 5 News piece here.

Baron Bodissey of Gates of Vienna provides his own coverage as well here.

UPDATE:
For some reason, Fox 5 News of NY showed up and exposed what looked like a ghost town... Now their site has no mention of the story.

On top of that, The Catskill Chronicle- which has been intimately following the story by posting photos of screen shots of Fox 5's promos- seems to have dropped off of the face of the Earth.

Guess this wasn't the story to mess with...
If I suddenly disappear, it was nice knowing ya.

Al at The Catskill Chronicle will be live blogging the Investigative report on the potential terrorist camp in the Catskills at 10 EST tonight.

See post below...

Meanwhile, The Canadian Sentinel keeps his eyes fixed on another Jamaat ul Fuqra suspected training camp just outside of Ottawa.

Keep your head down and your powder dry my friend...

CP's Crusade

UPDATE: Read below the photo before reading this...
CP's traction seems to be gaining momentum!

FOX 5 NY Investigates NY Terror Camp
FOX 5 NY will be running an investigative report on the Muslims of the Americas/Jamaat ul-Fuqra headquarters compound on Monday Night at 10 PM EST.

I spoke with the investigative reporter, who took a team up to Hancock and lets just say his report should be very enlightening.

The Catskill Chronicle has screenshots of the promo here, here, here, and here.

When Bloggin' Outloud had their Best of So Far Awards a few weeks back, I nominated a site for best Political Blog called The Politics of CP.

His site is an example of the proactive work blogging can to do expose potential terrorist threats before they can strike.

The excellent investigative reporting that he has performed all year on a terrorist camp that exists in the Catskill Mountains near Hancock, N.Y, Jamaat ul Fuqra, is finally getting nationwide notice.

WorldNetDaily has picked up on his work with a story here. Here's an excerpt:
The neighbors interviewed, who asked not to be identified, said they feared retaliation if they were to make a report to law enforcement officials.

"We see children- small children run around over there when they should be in school," one neighbor said. "We hear bursts of gunfire all of the time, and we know that there is military-like training going on there. Those people are armed and dangerous."

The resident said his household gets "nothing but menacing looks from the people who go in and out of the camp, and sometimes they yell at us to mind our own business when we are just driving by."

"We don't even dare to slow down when we drive by," the resident said. "They own this mountain and they know it, and there is nothing we can do about it but move, and we can't even do that. Who wants to buy property next to that?"

Jamaat ul-Fuqra, or "community of the impoverished," was formed by Pakistani cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani in New York in 1980. Gilani, who refers to himself as "the sixth Sultan Ul Faqr," has stated his objective is to "purify" Islam through violence.
NYC radio host Kevin McCullough of MuscleHead Revolution interviewed CP this weekend on his radio show. Listen here. (Jump just short of halfway through the audio clip to get to the interview.)

What gained CP all this attention?

This report issued by the Northeast Intelligence Network has launched CP's work into the national spotlight and verifies the information he has gathered.

While I may have won that Best of So Far popularity contest in the political category, CP is the one who deserves all the recognition and exposure he can get for his tireless and crucial work exposing this terrorist cell.

Spend some time on his site and read some of the investigating he has done. The monitoring of Islamic schools and Mosques is absolutely critical in the maintaining of our national security... despite what so called civil rights activists are bound to say.

So to those who will scream about freedom of religion and speech, do you really think that you're not going to be one of the targets of these terrorists just because you sympathize with them? They'll cut your head off just as quick as they would George Bush's.

At that point, it'll be much easier to bury your head in the sand...

Crazy Week

Well, I've been up to my ears in work lately. A potential partnership with the company I work for and Monster.com has been in the works putting us all on edge.

This could be an excellent deal for us allowing us to penetrate the market much further with the Monster.com branding, or it could potentially put me out of work! I'll just have to see how it goes.

Ok ok ok... I've also been hooked on my Xbox Live's version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour '06 each night. Just writing about it has induced me to fire it up to play as I write. I'll be right back...

Yeah I know I'm lame... save it.

The flu bug has devastated my wife so I've been Mr. Mom all week. Thankfully she's feeling better and things are starting to get back to normal... sort of.

Valentines Day was a little different this year than in the past. I delivered flowers for a local flower shop and became one of the most popular guys in Las Vegas as I motored all over the city delivering beautiful bouquets of roses to other's loved ones at work and at home.

It's amazing how friendly women are when you have a dozen long stem roses in your hands! Unfortunately, with my wife's flu bug, and me working, we didn't get much time to spend together that day. I'll make it up to her though. I found an awesome restaurant that I know she'll love and we'll have a sweet romantic dinner alone soon.

I pretty much worked for free when I picked up a $100 parking ticket for parking in front of a fire hydrant downtown when running some flowers into the Bank of America highrise.

Well, I just finished my interview over at Basil's Blog and he should have it up anytime now. Go check it out and let me know whether I've confirmed or denied your suspicions of my sanity.

Hopefully I'll be able to return to more regular posting soon. It figures that I would ditch my blog at the time I have the most readers I've ever had!

*shrug* It's not like this makes me any money or anything...
Besides, what could I possibly add to stories about Dick Cheney blasting his bud in the mug, Iran's desire to induce WWIII, or the fact that the United Arab Emirates may soon be controlling our ports...

...and it may be the liberals who save us from this disaster!
Yikes...

Catch'up Time

I'll be away from the computer (well, at least for blogging) for a couple of days.

I spent all day yesterday in Jury Duty selections. The indispensable prop of Michael Savage's book "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" perhaps swayed court opinion away from having me on the jury...

I've also had flu like symptoms over the last few days (so have a few of the kids) so I haven't done much work and I don't want to fall too far behind. So back on the ball and time to bust some work out.

But first, my wife needs a quiet house to make some sales calls so I'm going to take the two babies (the older three boys are in 1st grade) to the Museum of Natural History where they can ooh and ahh over the dinosaur exhibits.

There's nothing I can post that you haven't already read somewhere so I'm going to take this time to catch up on some things and will be ready to rock later on this week.

The Bonfire of the Vanities #136

With that slogan there's no better place for this carnival than your rookie host and perpetual source of Bonfire of the Vanities submissions... Peakah.

I know some of you are probably wondering where in the world did that nickname come from?
I feel a bonfire worthy post emerging!

Did I get caught up in the Pokemon craze and identify myself with that popular little furry yellow freak who can launch lightning through his/her tail as well as cause seizures in Japanese kids sitting 2 feet from their television?

Well, as much as I'd like to have the ability to fry moonbats with only a flick of my tail, this is not the source of the nickname.

Rather it's the result of hanging with a bunch of drunk Irish chowdah heads at Syracuse University... for some reason I tended to congregate with the micks from Roxbury.

When they learned my last name was McPeak the nickname Peakah naturally emerged as the moniker of choice when being screamed at to fetch another beer for the upperclassmen.

Believe me, after years of middle and high school nicknames that can easily emerge from the cruel prepubescent mind of fledgling male cohorts such as McFreak, McFly, McGeek, McCheeks... I was quite happy to take on the Peakah persona.

Although I do not speak with a New England accent, the voices inside my head routinely do... therefore I type with an accent.

But enough about me, allow me to feed posts to the soon to be cracklin' Bonfire of the Vanities...

...in order of snap, cracklin, and poppin into my inbox...

Free Money Finance submits a yawner that he begs me to toss into the bonfire:
Are 0% Loans Good, Bad, or Does it Depend? My Response
I hated this post and this topic even before it took me an hour to
write this response to people who have no sense anyway. Burn it, please!!!
Done deal... that's enough BS to get the ole bonfire roarin' and we've just begun...
*now that's perfect bonfire kindling*

but wait, there's more financial talk to feed the fire...

Nickel finds a Creative Use of Your Flexible Spending Account

I was just trolling my site statistics (as I do from time to time) when I discovered that someone found their way to this site by Googling 'flexible spending account beer'.
Ok, is the bonfire being fueled by financial spam? What is this crap?
*over the shoulder toss into the emerging flames*

Two Dogs admits
Posting screen shots of stupid web searches is the laziest form of blogging and I excel at it.
Hooray for MSN! Post #9... congrats on your ranking for the search 'hot+men+sex'... yikes!
*tossed into the fire*

Peace Moonbeam at The Peace Moonbeam Chronicles submits Disaster Relief.
Shameful and insensitive joking in the wake of Katrina
I'm saving this one from the fire, it's a keeper that should be at the Carnival of Comedy instead! Actually check this post out.

Gnotalex at Dodgeblogium searches for the perfect blonde but comes up with Jessica Alba... dude, she's no Heather Locklear... is she even blonde?
*chucks into fire*

Jack Cluth from The People's Republic of Seabrook researches the hidden dangers of bread in Tomorrow, we'll discuss the evils of milk. Here's a taste:
Most American bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.
It may explain poor Jack's deficiency of common sense as well...
*flung to the flames*

LeatherPenguin submits More Fingerboard Follies where he fisks members of CSI. No, not that CSI, the College of Staten Island.
*yawwwwwwnnnn*

Sean at The American Mind scoffs at Mastercard's attempt to market to geeks and hackers during a sporting event with Hackers Fave Super Bowl Ad.
*burn baby burn*

Spirit Fingers at Give me spirit fingers dammit shows how the avian flu may be influencing high society and their fashion shows with Managing your risk exposure. Another keeper I'll refer to the Carnival of Comedy... Check it out!

Another one that made me laugh out loud and echoes exactly my sentiments on the SuperBowl Halftime show is Blog d'Elisson's THE LIVING DEAD. Wow, we're on a roll... another post spared from the bonfire per the bonfire keeper- moi.

Just when I thought it was getting good, Alabama Improper induces a stomach lining seizure with her submission appropriately named GAG.
*flame broiled post*

Sinner at 7 Deadly Sins cruises Instapundit with a jealous eye in his post Envy: Insty Crap. Evil Glen linking MySpace tards?? Someone check to see if Evil Glen's pajama's need to be cleaned.
*bowled into the bonfire*

Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy reveals a disturbing side to her twisted mind when she falsely exclaims that "I’m full of ideas". Please please please never ever ever link to 'tubgirl' ever again... I'm begging you! I've been unclean since my unfortunate introduction with 'tubgirl'.
*hurled into bonfire as far as freaking possible*

Random Yak brings us some News from the "That's Just Wrong" desk. C'mon dawg, have a heart, what's wrong with dressing up your favorite lil furry woodland creature? Ok, I get it now... the fur on this one should go up quick in the bonfire...
*Whooosh*

Mensa Barbie seems to be seeing things in View the Big Angel...
*curve-ball to the combustion pit*

Interested-Participant submits RSPCA Urges Hemorrhoid Cream for Cane Toads. Nothing like a lil bit o'toad whacking to feed the bonfire... I gotta wash my hands after handling this one.
*fanning the flames*

And finally, just before 9pm on the Westcoast and when 24 is about to begin, and as the deadline for submissions to the bonfire is expiring, Fitch throws some Democratic Underground madness at me where he is Reporting From the DUmmy Front.

Now I need a shower.

But upon actually reading the post instead of skimming like I do when I see links to the DU for fear of over exposure to mental derangement, Fitch points out that there are actually a few level headed readers in the DU! Well, duh... there's always exceptions!
*pitched to the pyre*

Well, I managed not to get burned too bad... a rarity for me when in close proximity to fire...

Thanks to Kevin at Wizbang for allowing me to host,
and to Conservative Cat for the Carnival submission form...

And most importantly, thanks to you, for killing your time with me as I bravely scoured through a crapload of awful posts... Now I know how my readers feel on a daily basis.

UPDATE: One slacker submitted past the deadline... Don't you understand deadlines hon? I'll go easy on ya cuz Blogger was down for a good hour earlier as usual. So here goes...

FirstBrokenAngel submits a lil Joke to appropriately end this 136th episode of the Bonfire of the Vanities. 136?!? Time to retire this puppy don't 'cha think Kevin?

Naaaa...

Who Knew?

Thanks to Lyn and beth for the Best of So Far January awards.
We're not going to go through this every month are we?
That was stressful!

Thanks to all who participated that was ummm... fun?

All I know is somehow I won in a category that had far better nominees than my site. But all I have to say about that is SCOREBOARD! Check the scoreboard y'all, I snagged a sweet yet close victory over my pals Insolublog and Liberty Just in Case.

Bettah luck next time guys...
Oh, now is where I announce my retirement from these award shows... gotta go out on top and seeing how I lucked out and stole this one (something I'm sure will never happen again) I'm outty 5000.

Thanks for voting for me y'all!

Oh and here's a reminder for the Bonfire of the Vanities...
Be sure and submit a post, I'm hosting!

Also stop by Basil's and leave me a question for the blogger interviews.
Interview coming up next week or two.

Happy SuperBowl people... time to eat way too many ribs...

Future Subway Sandwich name: The Mecca Melt

It's only getting worse: (click picture to go to story)

It's free speech-
no in fact it is the ultimate in artistic expression-
to put a Crucifix in a jar of urine or to heap elephant dung on the Virgin Mary and display it in a NYC art museum.

But print this in a newspaper?

And all hell breaks loose.

Including burning down an Embassy (again)
From Stop the ACLU: Danish Embassy Set Ablaze: Can We Co-Exist?

See the protest signs they were carrying at Michelle Malkin... if these don't directly communicate their intentions to you, you're braindead.

Randy at RightWinged nails it and has posted all of the pictures in international papers that are making these crazies crap in their head scarves.

Oh but if only we would say sowwy:
Everybody in the Muslim world, though, wants a clear-cut apology. They don't want the caveat of free speech, they want a clear-cut apology. So, maybe it won't go away until they hear those words, "I'm sorry."
Umm... I highly doubt that an "I'm sorry" is going to cut it...
How about "get over it" instead? It would be more to the point.

Meanwhile our State Department is on the wrong side of the equation as usual... because these muslims want blood spilt over this...

Only in a hardcore theocracy are you going to achieve a society that is not at least somewhat outwardly sacrilegious. So I guess it is safe to assume that a hardcore theocracy is exactly what European muslim immigrants are pushing for.

If it wasn't cartoons, it'll be the public sales of alcohol, or something else, or something else...

Lets just get it on already and melt mecca so we can see what new sandwiches can be marketed off the name "The Mecca Melt".

UPDATE: Katey left a link in the comment section showing all the artistic renderings of Muhammad throughout the ages lending more evidence that these latest renderings are just the vehicle whereby these fanatics use to riot. I'm telling you, it's always going to be something...

Down tha Stretch They Come...

Thanks to Lyn and Beth for the work they've done in putting together the Best of So Far Awards.

If nothing else, we've had the chance to step out of the circle of bloggers we've grown so familiar with and love, to acquaint ourselves with new sites that expand the neural network of the living breathing blogosphere.

Like Killired who definatelly loves the color pink and Barbara out in my old stomping grounds in Webster, NY. It has been nice getting acquainted with you two.

And then of course you get to see our crazy friends get even nuttier. I mean can't you just feel the love between DPT and jimmyb? Now this is what it is all about!

I didn't have time to post yesterday because I had a bad situation get worse. I have been called for jury duty on Monday! I think it will be safe to say that it will be the most hung (as in hungover) jury of the year seeing how it's going to be the day after the Superbowl.

I feel sorry for the cause of truth and justice that day.

Isn't the day after the Superbowl supposed to be a national holiday by now?

Not only that but a couple of days ago I got a letter from the Las Vegas Justice Court stating that I had a bench warrant out for missing a court date! Just great, why don't I have a calendar?

So I could see myself showing up for jury duty, the authorities checking my ID, then just slapping the cuffs on me. All while surrounded by those sweating beer with Super-hangovers.

Meanwhile Lyn is emailing me that I need to campaign harder! Sheesh woman! I'm in the middle of something here! *grin*

So, did this lack of posting on the oh so critical final stretch of the Best of So Far campaign ruin my chances to win? Apparently not!

There I am, somehow barely in the lead in the Political Category (the one I want to win so I can tell all my friends) But right on my heels is Matthew, my bud to the north of me in Reno of Liberty Just in Case. The one who had been holding my irish bar template hostage until yesterday when he all of a sudden decided to give it to me. This after demanding payment several times!

So, I'm thinking about the possible politics involved. Is this a Rove-ian scheme to just make me go away by sending me a bugged out template sure to ruin me and my livelihood forever?

Besides, I can't even open the darn text file! Perhaps because my computer is a gazillion times smarter than me and is saving me from certain doom!

The gig is up Matt, I'm not falling for it! Yeah, you're check is in the mail... Suuuuuuurrrrrreeeee.

Now, if you haven't already, get'cho booty emailing BestSoFar@RightThinking.net or lyngperry@yahoo.com and stand up fairness! Don't allow dirty tricks to win this thing! Send your three votes for political blog to moi! Cuz I know french...

Wednesday, February 01, 2006

First of all I would like to Thank...

...getting the award acceptance speech ready... as if.

So... there is an award that I have to earn votes for and I'm not quite sure how to do it.

In the politics category I see Insolublog is playing the humble shy aww shucks guy in this race. Yeah I know I nominated the guy but seeing how he posts once a month now, I figured I was lining up some weak competition... unfortunately for me how can you not love his writing? Even if it is only done once a month'ish.

The Man takes a page out of the PDiddy tactic-book of threatening death for those who do not vote. Luckily he will not have to kill himself for he did vote, and for me no less! ...schweet! Thanks dawg!

I could resort to just straight up begging, as Doc has reduced himself to yet again in another award nomination.

Ahem, this is my FIRST! award nomination for anything in my entire life! I would never reduce myself to begging for what I want...

...what's that hunny?
No, I'm not talking about THAT!

Or I could do as every good politician does and resort to making promises I could never keep... Much like CUG has...

But no, I want to appeal to your higher conscience. I want you to take those precious three votes you possess in each category and very carefully consider your choices. The future of the blogging world may depend on it...

Therefore I have very carefully weighed and considered my choices with the utmost concern for truth and justice or something like that.

My allotment of 3 votes for Best so Far Political Blog go to:

The GunnNutt
PJ Maximum -now post sumthin will ya?
Crazy Politico's Rantings

A future vote or two will go to GOP and the City for voting for me so kindly.
sounds like a campaign promise to me

For the Best of So Far Linkfest Blog I voted for:

Basil's Blog
Jo's Cafe
NIF

How exactly did I get nominated for the linkfest category anyway? I'm such a slacker when it comes to open posts! But hey, I guess this can be considered a linkfest style post eh? Therefore, vote for me.

For Best of So Far Humor Blog I voted for:

Dr Phat Tony
The Conservative UAW Guy
Rooster Cashews

and for Best of So Far Personal Blog my votes go to:

Lingo Slinger
Support Your Local Gunslinger
Diane's Stuff

In the Best of so Far Religious Blog I voted for Adam's Blog.

As far as the Best of So Far Pet Blog goes...
Well, Conservative Cat gets a vote cuz his pet Bruce is so darn cute,
and Gigolokitty gets a vote just because gigolo's are kewl.

Well, let the voting begin!

Email BestSoFar@RightThinking.net with your 3 votes in the Political, Linkfest, and Personal Blog Categories for Peakah's Provocations!

Cuz I got the kewlest hat and toughest kid in the blogosphere...
